Why it’s great to work here
We offer our people a very competitive pay and benefits package.
We have different pay scales for the various jobs we advertise. You will start at the bottom of your salary range and progress one point each year until you reach the top of the pay scale.

- financial advice, including queries about mortgage or debt management
- general information and citizens' advice services
- legal advice
- telephone and face-to-face counselling
Career development and learning experiences
We provide a range of training courses and learning methods for your development. For more information, visit learning and development. We may fund you for studying specific qualifications to help you do your job.
Flexible employment and agile working
We are always happy to talk flexible working. We offer a wide variety of flexible working patterns and absolutely recognise that 9am to 5pm, five days a week, may not be the norm anymore. We want our staff to work flexibly to get a better balance, subject to the business needs of each individual service.
You may also vary your working hours (subject to approval) to suit personal circumstances and accrue time off in many roles if you work extra hours.
We also offer a variety of flexible working arrangements, enabling eligible employees to apply to change the way they work to:
- part-time
- job-share
- compress working hours, so you work your total weekly hours over fewer working days
- work from home
- stagger hours, so you start and finish your day at different times
- term-time only (some of our posts can accommodate term-time only working patterns)
At Enfield we also embrace agile working, with an emphasis on innovation, performance and outcomes, and you don’t necessarily need to be office based to do that. In most areas, our staff can either hot desk or work remotely.
Health and leisure
We have negotiated discounts with various organisations so you can make choices about your health and lifestyle.
London Living Wage
We are committed to paying our staff and contractors at least the London Living Wage.
Long Service Award
We recognise loyalty, dedication and hard work and regularly celebrate the contribution made by those who have completed 25 years of service.
Parking
We offer staff parking at a number of sites, including free parking for Blue Badge holders. You can choose to pay for your parking via a salary sacrifice scheme.
Pension scheme
We offer an excellent pension through the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS). For more information on its range of benefits, visit our pensions website or view the LGPS guide (PDF).
Retaining talent
We give our people the opportunity to achieve their ambitions without leaving us. You have ownership of your own career and we aim to recruit from within where possible. We have an e-learning system which enables you to manage your own learning online at any time.
Season ticket loan
We can offer you an interest free season ticket loan repayable over three or ten months.
Tax free bikes for work
We can provide employees with new bikes and safety equipment on a tax-free basis. Safety equipment can include:
- helmets
- locks
- panniers
- reflective clothing
If you join the scheme, you can choose a new bike and safety equipment, up to the value of £1,000, from a local partner bike shop. You will need to agree to a reduction of your gross salary for a 12-month period to cover your hire costs. We also have a pool of bikes for business use for travel around Enfield.
Vehicle allowances
You will be able to claim mileage if you use your car for work-related activities. The rate for this mileage will depend on how many miles you do in a year. If you’re on a MM2 or above salary grade, you can only claim for reimbursement of reasonable work-related expenses and the cost of travel incurred while travelling outside of Enfield.
If you use your pedal cycle or motor cycle for business travel, you can claim a small allowance.
